diy coffee sugar scrub cubes

diy coffee sugar scrub cubes

we're all in this self quarantine together, but it doesn't mean we can't get creative while we're at it :) since we're limited to our outings, i thought it would be a fun idea to do a few DIY posts on how to create some of our more luxurious items while we're at home using everyday household items.

during these dry months, i NEED something to exfoliate and moisturize, so what better than a home made sugar scrub with coffee and coconut oil? and honestly you don't need to make these into cubes. i just did because i need some sort of portion control and they make great gifts or favors!

Here's What You'll Need:

  • 1 cup of sugar (you can use brown or white!

  • 1/4 cup coconut oil (or any other oil of choice!)

  • 1/2 cup of grated, unscented soap

  • 1/4 cup coffee grounds

  • 2 tbsp vanilla extract

  • Mixing bowl + spoon

  • Any optional scented add-ins

  • Ice cube tray or mold of choice

Instructions

  • In a microwave safe bowl, mix the oil and grated soap together.

  • Microwave on high for 10 second intervals, stirring in between each and continue until the soap is melted into the oil.

  • Add in sugar, coffee grounds, vanilla and stir.

  • Quickly spoon your mixture in your mold and place in the freezer once cool to let firm up. I let mine sit in the freezer for about two hours!

  • When your cubes are firm, pop them out of the mold. You can cut them into smaller shapes if you want, but remember to keep in a covered container until they're ready to use. If you don't they'll probably dry out and crumble! I accidentally let mine in the hot shower and they melted - so keep in a cool, dry place until you're ready to use!

There are endless possibilities with scrubs - you can add in honey, oats, peppermint extract, lavender, etc. Let me know if you make these and try out a different flavor combo! Xo, S.
